One team is traveling the distance for its tournament and others are going a short drive for their respective wrestling tournaments on Friday.
Southern Door High School is showcasing one of the fastest-growing sports in the country on Friday when it hosts its first girls' wrestling tournament. Amherst, Appleton West, Crandon, Luxemburg-Casco, Bay Port, Brillion, Chilton, Florence, Mishicot, Oregon, Oshkosh West, Peshtigo, Plymouth, Stratford, Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol, Tomahawk, Two Rivers, Wrightstown, and Wausau West are among the schools scheduled to attend the tournament, which will be set up as a four-wrestler round-robin. Weigh-ins are at 4 p.m., with the first matches starting at 5 p.m.
After keeping things close to home to start their season, the Luxemburg-Casco wrestling team is going the distance for its next competition this weekend. The Spartans are heading to Kansas City, Missouri, for the KC Stampede Wrestling Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
Kewaunee will face off against Wrightstown and Tri-City in a triangular meet in Wrightstown. The first matches begin at 5 p.m.
