Phoenix men kick off weekend away for basketball teams

After an extended stay at the Resch Center and Kress Events Center, the Green Bay Phoenix basketball teams are out of town this weekend to continue Horizon League play.

The Phoenix men kick off things on Thursday with a game at Detroit Mercy at 6 p.m. The Titans switched spots with the Phoenix in the conference cellar, failing to win a game in 15 tries, including a 0-4 record in the Horizon League. The Phoenix, meanwhile, swept their two Horizon League games last weekend against Wright State and Robert Morris University. Noah Reynolds also won many accolades, including Horizon League Player of the Week. The Phoenix men will continue their Detroit swing on Saturday when they play Oakland at 2 p.m. The Golden Grizzlies are in a similar spot as the Phoenix, boasting a 7-8 record, including a 2-2 mark in the Horizon League.

The Phoenix women will return to action on Friday when they play Northern Kentucky at 6 p.m. and Wright State on Sunday at noon. Led by Luxemburg-Casco alum and current Horizon League Player of the Week Cassie Schiltz, the Phoenix posted a pair of double-digit victories against Purdue Fort Wayne and Cleveland State, both of which had perfect conference marks before entering the Kress Events Center.
