Wrestling round-up: L-C sweeps ahead of Duffy

The Luxemburg-Casco wrestling team will head to its tournament in Port Washington on Friday with plenty of confidence after sweeping its three duals on Thursday.

 

The Spartans toppled Southern Door 64-15, Little Chute 77-6, and Kewaunee 62-16. The Chas Treml mixed and matched his line-ups throughout the night, with each wrestler registering points in at least one dual and several winning all three of their matches. The team will head to Port Washington on Friday for the annual Duffy Tournament, where they will face Berlin, Burlington Area School District, Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah, Janesville Craig HHS, Kimberly, Lodi, Milton, Oak Creek, Oconto Falls, Oshkosh West, Ozaukee, Plymouth, Port Washington, and Watertown beginning at 3 p.m.

 

The Kewaunee wrestling team dropped two of its three matches, but won when it counted the most in its Thursday quad meet at Little Chute.The Storm lost to county rival Luxemburg-Casco 62-16 and Little Chute 51-24, but they did win their conference dual against Southern Door, beating them 39-33. Mitchell Boeder (285) and Mitchell VanGoethem (157) were the only two wrestlers to post perfect 3-0 records on the night.

 

The Southern Door wrestling team faced stiff competition on Thursday as they lost all three of their duals. The Eagles lost to Packerland Conference foe 39-33, local rival Luxemburg-Casco 64-15, and Little Chute 39-37. Trevin Veeser had the best night of any wrestler for the Eagles, going 3-0 while wrestling in two different weight classes on the night.
