Phoenix basketball teams split final two games of weekend set

The Green Bay Phoenix men came up short, while the women secured another double-digit win to close out a weekend of traveling for the two basketball teams.

In the men's 79-73 loss to Oakland on Saturday, the Phoenix set a program record with 15 made three-pointers in a single game. The team's proficiency from behind the arc kept the proceedings close, but the Golden Grizzlies' Trey Townsend's 28-point, 11-rebound double-double proved to be too much in the end for the team to secure a rare sweep of Detroit. Five Phoenix players reached double figures in the loss, led by David Douglas Jr.'s 15 points.

The women were given a scare in the second half, but the Phoenix kept their undefeated Horizon League mark alive with a 75-63 win over Wright State on Sunday. The Phoenix outscored the host Raiders 18-6 in the first quarter and had a lead of over 20 points entering the second half. The Raiders would whittle away at the lead in the third quarter, but the Phoenix were able to thwart any comeback attempts in the final period. Maddy Schreiber led the Phoenix with 20 points while Cassie Schiltz and Natalie McNeal each chipped in 15 points in the win.
