Green Bay's Vogel hired by WNBA team

The Green Bay Phoenix women's basketball program announced on Wednesday that longtime assistant coach Megan Vogel will leave after the season to pursue what she calls a "once-in-a-lifetime opportunity."

Vogel, who has served on the Phoenix staff for 11 seasons and was named associate head coach last year, will join the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury coaching staff this summer.

Head coach Kevin Borseth expressed his excitement for his coach, saying, "She has invested a great deal into our program, and we are better off because of it. The Green Bay tree roots run deep and its branches wide. Our players, and now a coach, get the opportunity to move onto the next level. Green Bay Basketball is very well entrenched in our region, and this adds a national perspective to the far-reaching impact of our program."

Vogel will stay on the staff through the season's end, including Thursday's game at Detroit Mercy at 6 p.m. and Saturday's matchup at Oakland at 1 p.m.
