The Green Bay Packers have parted ways with defensive coordinator Joe Barry. The announcement comes less than one week after the Packers lost to the San Francisco 49ers 24-21 in the Divisional Playoffs on Saturday.
In a statement, head coach Matt LeFleur said, “These decisions are extremely difficult and Joe is one of the bet men I’ve had the opportunity to work with in this league.”
Barry coached in Green Bay for three years and was widely criticized by Packer fans for the defensive shortcomings that past two years. The Packers did turn the season around with late season wins over the Bears and Vikings and a playoff upset of Dallas, but it was not enough to save Barry’s job at the end.
