Tournament action dominates weekend slate

The girls took the mats on Friday ahead of a busy Saturday for wrestlers in Door and Kewaunee counties.

 

In Shawano, Southern Door just missed out on the top spot in the Shawano Invitational with a second-place finish, seven points behind champion Neenah. Five Eagles wrestlers took the podium, including a championship for Nora LeFevre (114 lbs) and Hailey Veeser (145 lbs). For Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol, Tiani Lemieux (145 lbs) and Lanie Brauer (165 lbs) were also in position to place in their respective brackets.

 

On Saturday, Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol will host its annual Dirk Sorenson Tournament with Bay Port, Crivitz, Denmark, Freedom, Gillett, Green Bay Preble, Iron Mountain, Lena, Little Chute, Marinette, Oconto, Oshkosh West, Palmyra-Eagle, Southern Door, Suring, Two Rivers, Valders, Wittenberg-Birnamwood, and Wrightstown will also participate in the tournament beginning at 8 a.m.

 

Luxemburg-Casco will travel to Pulaski for a tournament beginning at 9:30 a.m. Antigo, Bay Port, Coleman, Crandon, Denmark, Elkhorn, Freedom, Hortonville, Kaukauna, New London, Oconto Falls, Peshtigo, Port Washington, Pulaski, Seymour, and West De Pere are also scheduled to take the mats as the Spartans try to stay perfect in tournaments this season.

 

Kewaunee will travel to Deerfield for its own tournament action beginning at 9:30 a.m. Poynette, Brodhead, DeSoto, Jefferson, Kenosha Christian Life, Lake Mills, Madison La Follette, Martin Luther, Menasha, Milwaukee Bradley Technical, Monona Grove, Random Lake, Stoughton, Sun Prairie East, Waterloo, and
Waukesha South will also field teams in the tournament.
