The Green Bay Phoenix men's basketball team will have thousands of grade-school students cheering them on Thursday morning when they welcome IUPUI to the Resch Center.
The Phoenix are hosting their annual Education Day Festivities after sweeping two Detroit-area teams over the weekend. An 11-0 run late in the second half sent the biggest Resch Center crowd in four years into a frenzy as the Phoenix beat the Oakland Golden Grizzlies 69-59 before another late run dispatched Detroit Mercy 78-64 behind another strong performance from Noah Reynolds. The weekend helped a Green Bay men's basketball freshman get named the Under Armour Horizon League Freshman of the Week for the third straight week,. David Douglas Jr. earned the honor for the third time this season after he scored 22 points on Saturday against the Titans.
The Jaguars enter the game with a 6-17 record and losers of their last three games. In a similarly themed game, the Phoenix beat the Jaguars in Indianapolis earlier this season 68-58 behind a 26-point performance from Douglas.
Tip-off is set for 11 a.m.
