Phoenix teams pick up big wins on Saturday

One game had a lot more drama than the other, but both Green Bay Phoenix basketball teams picked up big wins on Saturday afternoon.

In Youngstown, Ohio, the Phoenix men came back to stun the Youngstown State Penguins 84-83 thanks to a long three by Foster Wonders with just two seconds remaining. The odds were against the Phoenix as 11.5-point underdogs and playing without their best player Noah Reynolds. Preston Ruedinger filled the void admirably with 26 points. David Douglas Jr. scored 16 points and Marcus Hall added 13 points in the win that had them down by four points at the break.

At home, the Phoenix women outscored IUPUI by 10 in the first quarter and never wavered in a 71-52 win. Natalie McNeal scored 26 points to lead all scorers while grabbing 15 rebounds while Cassie Schiltz added 11 points. The Phoenix never trailed in the game and stayed undefeated with a perfect 11-0 mark.
