Kewaunee, Sevastopol shares Packerland crown as girls' basketball turns focus to postseason

The area's girls' basketball teams will now turn their focus to the postseason after concluding the regular season slate on Thursday.

 

After winning their respective games, Sevastopol and Kewaunee will share the Packerland Conference title. The Storm handled their local rivals Algoma 51-36, while the Pioneers toppled Peshtigo at home 53-29. 

 

Southern Door fell in their home finale 58-40 to Oconto.

 

Gibraltar headed on a high note into the postseason as they blew past Stockbridge 67-27.

 

Sturgeon Bay fought hard but came up short against NEW Lutheran 41-28.

 

Luxemburg-Casco was nipped by Fox Valley Lutheran at home 42-37.

 

All local teams, with the exception of Kewaunee, will open their tournament games on Tuesday. You can find that schedule below:

In Division 2, #6 Luxemburg-Casco will start on the road at Watertown on February 23rd, setting up a match-up between #2 West De Pere or the winner of Slinger and West Bend West.

 

In Division 3, #10 Sturgeon Bay will travel to Tomahawk on February 20th with a chance to play Freedom in the regional semi-final. 

 

In Division 4, Kewaunee earned the #1 seed, and they will wait for the winner for Kohler and Howards Grove. #6 Algoma will host Roncalli, and #10 Southern Door will travel to New Holstein in the opening round on February 20th.

 

In Division 5, #2 Sevastopol will host St. Thomas Aquinas on February 20th with a chance at a Packerland matchup on February 23rd if #10 Gibraltar can get past Niagara on the road.
