Area sends 17 to WIAA State Wrestling Tournament

Door and Kewaunee counties will be well represented at next weekend's WIAA State Wrestling Tournament in Madison.

All five of the Eagles' competing girls made it to the championship match, but it was Nora LeFevre, Hailey Veeser, and Sydney Turner who punched their tickets with sectional championships. On the boys' side, Mason Motquin battled his way to a third-place finish to clinch his spot in the state tournament field.

For the Storm, Mitchell Boeder lost his chance at a sectional title before winning his second place match. Kemper Robinson and Mitchell VanGoethem made their way through from the consolation semis to earn their spots in the tournament field.

Nine members of the Luxemburg-Casco wrestling team will spend consecutive weekends in Madison after a successful outing at the WIAA Sectional Meet in Oconto Falls on Saturday. Jake Jandrin, Carson Neubert, Caleb Delebreau, Isaac Jerabek, and Max Ronsman will all have top seeds in next weekend's state tournament at the Kohl Center as sectional champions. Michael Bostwick, Blakelee Bastien, and Trace Schoenebeck nearly became sectional champions in their own right while Carson Blohowiak battled his way into the field with a third-place finish. On the girls' side, Kiley Georgel won her lone match of the day to become Luxemburg-Casco's first female state qualifier.

Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol's Tiani Lemieux clinched her second straight trip to the WIAA State Meet by hardly breaking a sweat. Lemieux pinned both of her opponents in less than two minutes total. Teammate Olivia Hofrichter split her two matches to come up just shy of a chance to go herself. On the boys' side, Spencer Madsen was the highest-placing wrestler as he missed out on a trip to Madison with a fourth-place finish.
