Green Bay women punch ticket to NCAA tournament

The #2 Green Bay Lady Phoenix outscored the #1 Cleveland State Vikings every quarter Tuesday to claim the Horizon League Tournament Championship 64-40 in Indianapolis.

Natalie McNeil scored a career-high 32 points to lead Green Bay to its first NCAA Tournament bid since 2018.    She topped the 30-point performance she had against Cleveland State on February 3rd in a road loss to the Vikings.  The win snapped the conference champion Vikings’ 11-game winning streak.

The Lady Phoenix took a 32-19 lead into halftime and never let Cleveland State back into the game.

Dominating the boards, Green Bay only allowed the Vikings (29-5) one offensive rebound in the first three quarters.

Green Bay (27-6) will now wait to see who and where they will play next week in the NCAA Tournament on Selection Sunday at 7 p.m.
