Kewaunee wins seven events Oconto Falls indoor track meet

The Algoma Wolves and Kewaunee Storm started their week with a track meet in Oconto Falls featuring the host school, Coleman, Crivitz, and Lena.

Kewaunee track athletes found themselves ahead of the pack in several events at Monday's meet in Oconto Falls. Wren Kunesh reached a new season best for the pole vault with her win for the Storm's girls' track team. Gabby Stangel (high jump), Alison Szydel (1600m), Alice Bergo (800m), the 4x400m relay, and the 4x800m relay were the other top three performances. On the boys' side, the 4x100m relay, the 4x400m relay, Maddix Mueller (high jump, triple jump), Christopher Cullen (400m), and Braxton Riha (shotput) all picked up event wins that led the Storm to a second-place finish as a team. Owen Carlson (45 yd dash), James Joski (800m), the 4x800m relay, Mitchell Boeder (shotput), DJ Echos (long jump), and Thomas Stangel (long jump) also posted top three performances.

The Algoma track team let its field events take center stage at Monday's indoor track meet in Oconto Falls. Faith Gerdmann set a new season-best for the girls to win the shotput event for the Wolves. Estella Marrero nearly did the same in pole vault as she set a new personal record. Marrero's fellow pole vaulter Brennan Buckman pulled off the same feat, taking second place with a new personal record of nine feet.
