Algoma baseball iced out in Brillion, set to play Preble Thursday

The Algoma Wolves baseball team will try to get their season underway again on Thursday when they travel to Capital Credit Union Park in Ashwaubenon to face Green Bay Preble.

The Wolves had already rescheduled their matchup against Brillion once this week before they were forced to postpone it again on Wednesday due to icy field conditions on the Tigers' field. The game has not been rescheduled.

The Wolves finished in the middle of the pack of the Packerland last year with an 8-8 mark in the conference and 12-10 mark overall. They were shut out in their WIAA Regional matchup against Iola-Scandinavia 8-0 to end their season last year. Jeff DeMeuse will welcome back All-Packerland performers Carson Leist, Aiden Jorns, Grant Vandervest, and Braeden Leist to the squad.

The Hornets finished in the bottom third of the Fox River Classic Conference, going 6-12 in the FRCC and 9-15 overall. They lost to Appleton North 11-1 in the WIAA Regional last year to bring their season to a close. Ian Johnson was the Hornets' only All-Conference selection and he graduated last year.

First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
