Vikings split pair at Adams Friendship

The Gibraltar Vikings opened their season at Adams-Friendship this weekend with an 11-8 win over St. Mary's Springs and an 8-0 loss to Lakeside Lutheran.

In their win over St. Mary's Springs, the Vikings were buoyed by a six-run second inning that made it 7-5. A four-run third inning put the Vikings ahead for good, though the Zephyrs did tack on three runs in later innings. Bennett Isaacson, Aaron Brey, Luke Rericha, and Max Maltby all had two hits in the game, and Brady Kita got one three times via walks and scored two runs.

In their loss against Lakeside Lutheran, Kita got on base another three times, including the Vikings' lone hit. The Vikings kept it close through the first six innings before Lakeside Lutheran scored five runs in the top of the seventh to put the contest away.
