Spartans baseball takes second crack against Panthers

Luxemburg-Casco baseball will play Oconto Falls on Monday in an effort to make up one of its weather-induced postponements from last week.

The Spartans scored single tallies in the final two innings, but it was not enough to overcome the Panthers in their first meeting of the season, a 3-2 loss at Capital Credit Union Park Saturday morning. The Panthers put the Spartans in a 3-0 hole thanks to an RBI single by Luke Gilbertson in the fourth inning and two more runs in the fifth. The Spartans chipped away in the game's final two innings. Braeden Schley had an RBI groundout in the sixth inning to cut the lead for the Panthers to two. Max Thayse drove in a run with a single, but on the same play, Bandow was gunned down at the plate to end the game and the Spartans' threat.

The first pitch from the Luxemburg-Casco Sports Complex is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
