Baseball round-up: Eagles baseball clipped by Lancers on U-102.1

Only one team that played on Thursday advanced in the WIAA Tournament, while two others were able to clinch shares of the Packerland Conference crown.

Southern Door and Manitowoc Lutheran traded runs all game long, but it was the Lancers that had the last laugh in a 6-5 loss for the Eagles in the WIAA Tournament on Thursday.

The Algoma Wolves scored early and often in their tournament opener against Weyauwega-Fremont, advancing with a 7-3 victory.

Sevastopol's offense could not find their stroke in a 3-0 loss to Marion.

Sturgeon Bay advanced without having to playing a game because of Ripon's forfeit. They will join Algoma, Kewaunee, Gibraltar/Washington Island, and Luxemburg-Casco in the second round of the WIAA Tournament.

In non-tournament action, Gibraltar/Washington Island finally finished off its second game against Kewaunee with a 4-3 to secure a share of the Packerland Conference crown with Kewaunee and Algoma. The Vikings did go on to lose their exhibition contest to the Storm 4-3.
