The Milwaukee Brewers rallied to tie the game in the ninth inning only to see the Chicago Cubs explode for five runs in the tenth inning to come away with a 6-3 win at American Family Field on Tuesday.
After the Cubs had a 1-0 lead going into the ninth inning, Willy Adames delivered a single to score Christian Yelich with two outs and send the game into extra innings.
Brewer closer Trevor Megill came on in the 10th inning and gave up a wicked line drive from Mike Tauchman that hit him in the right elbow. Megill left the game, and the Cubs then jumped on reliever Hobey Milner, scoring four more times.
The Brewers scored two runs in the bottom of the tenth, but it was not enough, and the Cubs won game two of the series.
Brewer Sal Frelick broke up a no-hit bid by Cubs’ pitchers in the eighth inning after Ben Brown shut down Milwaukee all night long.
Milwaukee (31-23) and Chicago (28-27) will play game three in the series at 6:40 p.m. at American Family Field Wednesday with Bryce Wilson (3-1) going for the Brewers and Shota Imanaga (5-0) for the Cubs.
