Maplewood's Jahnke deals in win over Institute on 105.1 The GOAT

Maplewood's Jeremiah Jahnke kept Institute guessing through six shutout frames as the Mets shutout the Cubs 12-0 in eight innings.

Jahnke had a four-run lead before visiting the mound, thanks to the patience of Mets hitters, drawing three walks and a hit-by-pitch to go along with a Tory Jandrin single.

The Mets would tack on one more against Cubs starting pitcher Robbie Pollman when Mark Viller drew a bases-loaded walk to bring home. Josh Pflieger would keep the Cubs close over the next four innings but still allowed a run in the sixth thanks to a couple of errors and two more in the seventh. The eighth inning would prove fatal for the Cubs as the Mets sent nine batters to the plate, scoring four times in the inning, with Jayden Diller's triple and single by Jandrin and Villers being the biggest blows.

Jahnke did not need the run support as he allowed four hits across six innings while striking out 14. Will Jandrin pitched the final two innings in relief, not allowing a hit by pegged a few batters to allow some base runners late.

Jandrin had four hits while Diller and Kody Kissinger also had multi-hit games. Jaeger Brusky, Frankie Ash, Quin Schram, and Kyle Ploor registered hits for the Cubs.
