The high school sports calendar for the 2023-2024 school year concluded on Tuesday with two local baseball teams falling short in their respective sectional semifinal matchups.

The Gibraltar/Washington Island Vikings could not get their bats going against the Pacelli Cardinals during Thursday's long afternoon sectional semifinal that ended in a 7-2 defeat. Pacelli ended up winning the sectional with a 15-0 win over Niagara in five innings to punch their ticket to the state tournament.

The Algoma Wolves remarkable run in the WIAA Division 4 tournament ended on Tuesday as St. Mary's Catholic won 7-3 in the sectional semifinal in Gillett. St. Mary Catholic fell to Bonduel in the sectional final 5-0.
