The Green Bay Gamblers are in search for a new head coach and general manager after Mike Leone was hired away by the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League.
Rochester Americans general manager Jason Karmanos and Buffalo Sabres (the Americans' parent club) general manager Kevyn Adams announced on Thursday. During his time with the Gamblers, Leone amassed a 66-41-10-7, leading them to back-to-back 30-plus win seasons and consecutive playoff appearances. Their series win was a first for the organization in a decade.
Posted on the Sabres' web site, Leone said he was grateful and humbled to join the organization. "I want to thank Kevyn Adams and Jason Karmanos for giving me the opportunity to lead the organization and believing in me. I look forward to meeting everyone in the organization and helping our prospects continue to grow and develop on and off the ice.”
