The Maplewood Mets look to bring the Sister Bay Bays down to their level in the Door County League standings on Sunday when they come the league leaders to town.
Maplewood's perfect start concluded last Sunday with a 13-8 loss to Egg Harbor. After losing their slim advantage early, the Mets retook the lead in the bottom of the inning when Jaden Diller and Gutschow went back to back with home runs to make it 3-2. The Mets would tack on one more in the frame to give themselves a two-run cushion. The Mets carried a 5-2 advantage halfway through the game before the Indians barraged the Mets with 11 runs combined in the sixth and seventh innings. The offensive highlights in those innings included a Riley Spetz two-run homer in the sixth and a three-run dinger from Cody Giesseman in the seventh. Tory Jandrin's home run for the Mets was lost in the Indians' offensive push.
In their last game, the Bays jumped out to a 6-0 lead after three innings and never looked back in an 8-1 win Sunday over Institute. Spencer Krause singled in the game's first run in the opening frame before a fielder's choice and an error brought home two more runs in the second. Sawyer Johnson doubled home one run, and Alex Laughlin singled in another two to make it 6-0. Krause scored the game's final run in the eighth inning when he stole third base and took home on a wild pitch. Sam Lindenberg earned the win, allowing one run on one hit while striking out two. Laughlin, Stewart Larsen, Krause, and Lindenberg all posted at least two hits in the game.
