Coaching carousel continues in Door, Kewaunee counties

Stretching across multiple sports, there has been no shortage of activity among the area schools regarding its coaching staffs.

Southern Door is looking for head coach candidates after Jerry Englebert (wrestling), John Berns (baseball), and Courtney Renard (softball) all resigned. They have been able to fill some spots with Alyssa Conway (girls' basketball), Scott Mallien (football), and Scott Biemeret (girls' wrestling.)

The Sturgeon Bay School Board was greeted by several resignations earlier this week, though one of those positions has been filled. Erin Peterson is resigning from her head coaching position for the boys' DCU swim team to resume coaching the girl's team. John Rosenthal is resigning from coaching track. Troy Hasenjager is resigning as the Head Coach for Track and will be replaced by Morgan Harding, who also became the head cross-country coach earlier in the school year.  Jackie Herlache is resigning from coaching varsity girls’ softball. Carl Waterstreet also resigned from his position as head football coach, but new athletic director Jonathan Dupuis will be the interim head coach.

Some new faces will be guiding teams at Sevastopol this upcoming school year. The resignation of Superintendent Kyle Luedtke did not just open a void in that office but also on the bench for the boys' basketball team. That spot was filled earlier this spring when Tom Ash slid over from the girls' team to the boys' team to fill that role. Annie Kapolnek has stepped down as the cross country coach for the Pioneers after guiding the squad to appearance in the state meet during the 2021 fall season. The new head football coach, Dan Judas, is still looking for someone to fill his position as assistant coach.
