Some of the area's volleyball teams will enter tournament play this weekend on a high note after playing individual matches on Thursday.

Kewaunee and Gibraltar battled hard on the volleyball court Thursday night with the Storm prevailing with the 3-0 victory.

The Luxemburg-Casco volleyball team was able to cruise past Marinette in straight sets Thursday night 3-0.

The Southern Door Eagles threatened in every set but could not steal one from the Peshtigo Bulldogs as they lost 3-0 Thursday night.

The Algoma Wolves volleyball team could not add a blemish to NEW Lutheran's Packerland resume on Thursday night, losing to the Blazers in straight sets.

Other volleyball action included Sturgeon Bay losing in straight sets to Oconto and Sevastopol suffering a similar fate to Bonduel.

Friday's action will see Sturgeon Bay battle the likes of Eau Claire Memorial, Racine Case, Racine Lutheran, Dominican, Holmen, Kaukauna, Neenah, Appleton East, The Prairie, Wauwatosa East, Cedarburg, Brookfield Central, Fox Valley Lutheran, Homestead, Hortonville, Middleton, Barneveld, Marshall, Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran, Newman Catholic, Kewaskum, and Sun Prairie West when tournament action begins at 4:30 p.m. at Kettle Moraine High School.
