Brewers doubled up by Mets in game 1

The Milwaukee Brewers dropped the first game in the best-of-three National League Wildcard round of the playoffs 8-4 Tuesday evening at American Family Field.

The Brewers took the lead 2-0 on the Mets in the bottom of the first inning, only to see the Mets get three runs off starter Freddy Peralta in the top of the second inning to make it 3-2.

Jackson Chourio singled in a run in the fourth, and William Contreras’ RBI groundout reclaimed Milwaukee's lead, but it was short-lived.

The Mets exploded for five runs in the fifth inning off Brewer's relievers to cement the victory.

Joel Payamps (0-1) took the loss, allowing three runs on two hits and a walk, while Aaron Ashby did not record an out after facing five batters and allowing two more runs in the fifth inning.

The Brewers and Mets will play an elimination game for Milwaukee at 6:38 p.m. tonight at American Family Field.
