Volleyball round-up: Storm, Spartans earn sweeps

The area's volleyball teams played against their conference foes on Thursday as they stand two weeks out from the start of the WIAA Tournament.

The Southern Door Eagles improved throughout the match but eventually lost to the Kewaunee Storm on the volleyball court Thursday night 3-0.

After a tough loss to Freedom earlier in the week, top-ranked Luxemburg-Casco topped #2 Fox Valley Lutheran in straight sets on the volleyball court Thursday.

The Sevastopol Pioneers volleyball team challenged conference-leading NEW Lutheran, but never had the breakthrough they needed to steal a set as they lost 3-0 Thursday night.

Gibraltar won a five-set classic against Sturgeon Bay 3-2 (25-19, 20-25, 17-25, 25-22, 15-13).
