Girls basketball round-up: Sevastopol, Kewaunee roll

Two area girls basketball teams picked up wins on Thursday to end their first week of action on a high note.

 

Naomi Rikkola scored 17 of her game-high 24 points in the first quarter to help the Sevastopol Pioneers girls basketball team sprint past the Hilbert Wolves on Thursday 69-18.

 

Kewaunee outlasted Wrightstown 57-53.

 

A buzzer beater provided the momentum Two Rivers needed to get past Sturgeon Bay Thursday night 37-29.

 

A tightly contested game went against the Luxemburg-Casco girls basketball team on Thursday night as they lost to Valders 48-42 in its season opener.

 

Girls basketball continues on Friday with Gibraltar and Washington Island renewing a Death’s Door rivalry in Fish Creek while Algoma plays host to Freedom.
