The Green Bay Gamblers needed an extra frame to get past Team USA on Friday night, winning the game 5-4 in overtime.
Anthony Cardilli and Tanner Bruender helped the Gamblers jump out to the 2-1 lead before they received equal treatment in the second period when Niles Benson found himself on either side of goals in the middle stanza. The two teams traded goals in the third goal, with Will Zellers answering an early Team USA tally with one of his own a few minutes later. Zellers would put the game on ice in overtime, scoring a goal with just seconds remaining to send the Gamblers to victory in game one of a two-game set. They play Team USA again Saturday at 6 p.m.
