The Green Bay Phoenix women could not hold onto its 29-26 halftime lead as it fell to Virginia 66-61.
The seesaw affair was trending in the Phoenix's favor until early in the third quarter when the Cavaliers flipped the momentum with a 7-0 run. They would hold onto a small advantage the rest of the way with the Cavaliers putting the game on ice with free throws.
Callie Genke led the Phoenix off the bench with a season-high 18 points. Natalie McNeal and Cassie Schiltz each added 12 points with McNeal crossing the 1,000 point threshold.
The Phoenix will take on Drake on Friday in the second game of the Discover Puerto Rico Tournament.
