One team will try to keep a good run going while the other will try to snap a national punchline Saturday when the Green Bay Phoenix basketball teams return to the court.
The Phoenix men will try to snap an 11-game losing streak when they visit Northern Kentucky for a noon tip. They were not able to dig out from their 15-point halftime deficit as they saw their losing skid stretch to 11 with a 74-51 loss to Wright State on Thursday. Jeremiah Johnson led the Phoenix with 14 points with Preston Ruedinger chipping in eight points and Marcus Hall adding seven points in the loss.
The Phoenix women look to stretch their winning streak to four when they welcome Wright State to the Kress Events Center for a 1 p.m. tip. They were down eight points at halftime, but a 17-2 run to end the third quarter flipped the script to a 78-59 win over Northern Kentucky on Thursday. Jenna Guyer led all scorers with 22 points, and Natalie McNeal chipped in another 17 points. Luxemburg-Casco alum Cassie Schiltz led the assault from behind the arc as she buried five three-pointers en route to a 15-point game.
