Four local champions crowned in weekend wrestling tournaments

Two champions and a milestone was celebrated by the Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol wrestling team at the Lancer Invitational hosted by Brookfield Central.

 

Lance Veeser's title at 165 pounds helped the Southern Door wrestling team finish near the top half of the Rocket Scramble leaderboard on Saturday. Veeser had four pins on the day, including one in the championship title-clinching match. Clark LeFevre (5th), Ethan Alexander (3rd), and Colton Krueger (5th) also finished in the Top 5. The Southern Door girls won the girls division title with 248 points, 18 points more than second-place Whitnall/Greendale. Sydney Turner was the lone champion in the group after she pinned her way through the 138-point bracket. Nora LeFevre, Attyson Wilson, and Violet Jackson nearly won their own titles with runner-up performances.

Spencer Madsen posted his 100th win of his career as he captured the 165 pound weight class. He went 5-0 with two pins and three tech falls. Ethan Denamur joined Madsen at the top of the podium, collecting pins in his final three matches. Seth Laughlin and Peter Shefchik also finished in the top 5.
