The Green Bay Phoenix men's basketball team tries to get rid of a major cloud hanging over its program on Friday when it welcomes Robert Morris to the Resch Center.
The Phoenix have not won since an 82-57 win over Southern Illinois-Edwardsville, over a dozen games ago. They showed signs of improvement in their game last Saturday, but they ultimately fell to in-state rival 70-59. Marcus Hall and Yonatan Levy each scored 15 points, while Mac Wrecke added 13 points in the loss, the 13th in a row for the Phoenix. The Colonials are 3-4 in the Horizon League, having split their last four games. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
In Thursday's action, the Phoenix women closed halves strong en route to a 70-47 win over Detroit Mercy. The Phoenix outscored the visiting Titans 19-7 in the second quarter and 26-13 in the fourth quarter in an otherwise tightly contested affair. Jasmine Kondrakiewicz led the team with 17 points with an inside bucket marking her 1000th point in her Phoenix career. She was complemented by Cassie Schiltz (16 pts), Natalie McNeal (12 points) and Callie Genke (12 points). Emala O'Brien registered 15 points in the loss for the Titans. The Phoenix women are back at the Kress Events Center on Saturday when they face Oakland at 1 p.m.
