Local wrestlers found plenty of success at area tournaments on Saturday.
Madsen had two pins and three tech falls on his way to the title, helping SBS take fourth overall. Ethan Denamur joined him on top of the podium at 190 pounds thanks to four straight pins to end his day. Zak Wrobel (175 lbs), Harrison Schartner (215 lbs), and Anthony Estevez (285 lbs), narrowly missed out on their own titles as they came in second place.
Lance Veeser was once again denied a title thanks to a local foe at this weekend's Door County Classic in Sturgeon Bay. Veeser finished in second place behind SBS' Spencer Madsen, pinning four straight opponents before losing via tech fall in the championship match. Clark LeFevre (4th place, 120 lbs) and Jude Alrand (5th place, 113 lbs) finished in the top 5 overall.
Arianna Niemojuski just missed out on her second tournament win of the season at Bay Port on Saturday. Niemojuski picked up two wins via decision before being teched in the championship match at 165 pounds.
Luxemburg-Casco girls wrestlers all finished in the top five of their brackets at Saturday's tournament hosted by Bay Port. Evelyn Lange won out after dropping her first match to take second place at 138 pounds. Kiley Georgel won three of her four matches at 185 pounds to capture her own silver medal. Jakayla Steinhorst split her four matches to finish her day in fourth place at 100 pounds.
