Vikings girls outlast snow, Eagles in Saturday showdown

Saturday was worth the fight in the snow for the Gibraltar girls basketball team as they beat Southern Door 52-47 in Brussels.

Gibraltar's Mikala Gorham's eight points and Southern Door's Ashlyn Delfosse's 14 points ensured that the Vikings and the Eagles entered the locker room tied at 25 points a piece. The difference would be Gorham in the second half as she erupted for 14 more points to end the afternoon with 22 points for the Vikings. Her teammates Megan Schar and Anna Jarosh would also reach double figures with 15 and 10 points, respectively, to help the Vikings end their seven-game losing streak. Delfosse's day would end with 22 points, while Kaleigh Clafin chipped in 11 points in the loss.

With its game against Stockbridge in between, the Vikings will go for a second straight Packerland Conference win on Thursday when they play Sturgeon Bay. Tim Kowols will have the call on 105.1 The GOAT beginning at 6:15 p.m. followed by the tip at 6:30 p.m.
