The wrestling season is down to potentially its final week after the girls wrapped up the regular season with a tournament at Green Bay Preble on Saturday.
Kewaunee's Arianna Niemojuski was one win away from winning her second title of the season, taking second place at the Green Bay Preble Girls Wrestling Tournament on Saturday. Niemojuski recorded two pins her first three wins on the day before losing 4-2 to Izzy Andreae in the championship match.
Kiley Georgel recorded four pins en route to a Green Bay Preble Girls Wrestling Tournament crown for Luxemburg-Casco. The rest of the team also took home hardware, with Jakayla Steinhorst finishing in sixth place with two pins in her five matches, while teammate Evelyn Lange won one contest en route to a fourth-place finish.
All of the area's girls wrestlers will try to extend their season at their respective regional tournaments on Friday. The boys will have their regional tournaments on Saturday.
Three Southern Door girls wrestlers were in the top three of their respective weight classes at Saturday's Green Bay Preble Tournament. Nora LeFevre led the Eagles with a second-place finish thanks to three pins and a tech fall before losing to Shawano's Jenna Moede in the title match at 114 pounds. Portia Hah won four of her five matches en route to a third-place finish at 126 pounds, while Sydney Turner went 3-2 to also take third place on the day.
Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol's three wrestlers all finished in the top three at Saturday's Green Bay Preble Tournament. Izzy Andreae pinned her way to the title match before beating Arianna Niemojuski (Kewaunee) for 1st place at 152 pounds. Tiani LeMieux got her first action of the season, going 4-1 en route to a second-place finish at 145 pounds. Lanie Brauer posted four pins in five matches at 165 pounds.
