Phoenix men look to follow women's lead in Valentine's Day matchup

The Green Bay Phoenix men's basketball team would love to join their women's counterparts in the win column after their 75-39 win over Oakland Thursday night.

The Phoenix women allowed less than 10 points in each of the first three quarters as they cruised to victory. The team shot over 50 percent from the field including nearly 47 percent from behind the arc. Luxemburg-Casco alum Cassie Schiltz paced the Phoenix with five three pointers en route to a15 point game. Natalie Mc Neal added 12 points while Callie Genke and Jenna Guyer each chipped in 11 points in the win. Kylie Buckley's eight points led Oakland in the loss while two other registered six points.

The Phoenix men try to snap a 20-game losing streak when Northern Kentucky comes to town for a 6 p.m. tip. In their 89-74 loss to Purdue Fort Wayne, an early lead disappeared when the Mastodons went on an 18-7 run fueled by Phoenix fouls and clutch shooting. Jeremiah Johnson led the Phoenix with 20 points and seven rebounds. Marcus Hall contributed 13 points before fouling out and Ben Tweedy tallied 11 points in the loss.
