Area teams will flood this week's sectional meets after a fruitful Saturday at regional tournaments across the region.
The Luxemburg-Casco wrestling team will be back in action on Tuesday in the Team Sectional at Bay Port after taking second place to the Pirates in the Preble Regional on Saturday. Cayden Zehren (113), Carson Blohowiak (120), Carson Neubert (126), Joseph Jeanquart (132), Logan Salm (138), Blakelee Bastien (144), Mason Boulanger (150), Ethan Werner (157), Logan Ellwanger (165), Calvin Henderson (175), Caleb Salentine (190), Aaron Delebreau (215), and Calvin Bohm (285) all qualified for individual sectionals with top-4 finishes. Neubert and Bastien will be among the top seeds in the sectional after winning their respective brackets. The Spartans scored 233 points on the day, 20 points behind regional champion Bay Port.
Three Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol wrestlers extended their season with top four finishes in the Denmark regional on Saturday. Spencer Madsen cruised to a title at 157 pounds with a tech fall and two pins. Zak Wrobel split his matches to take third at 175 pounds while Ethan Denamur and Harry Schartner had similar luck at 190 and 215 pounds to take fourth.
Three Kewaunee wrestlers will have an extra weekend to their season after advancing out of the Omro Regional on Saturday. Mitchell Boeder was the Storm's biggest winner, pinning his way to a title at 285 pounds. Trevor Gauthier split his matches at 150 pounds to take third place while Sam Kraynik was able to wrestle his way back into the sectional tournament with a win in the fourth place match.
Three Southern Door wrestlers are heading to next weekend's sectional tournament after successful days at the Omro Regional. Lance Veeser set the tone for the Eagles with his championship at 165 pounds with three wins. Clark LeFevre split his matches at 120 pounds to take third place while Ethan Alexander kept his season alive with a win in the fourth place match at 138 pounds.
