Wrestling round-up: Spartans' Georgel and Neubert battle for title Saturday

Six area wrestlers are still in line to bring back hardware from Madison as the Kohl Center host teams from across the state this weekend.

Two Luxemburg-Casco wrestlers still have a chance to stand on top of the podium after two days of the WIAA Individual State Wrestling Tournament in Madison. On the girls side, Kiley Georgel added a second-period pin of Sophia Peterson (Muskego-Girls) to her total to improve to 3-0 on the weekend at 185 pounds. For the boys, Carson Neubert won by major decision over Lincoln Flayter (Hartford Union) to clinch his spot in the grand march at 126 pounds. Blakelee Bastien can finish no worse than fourth place after dropping his semifinal match to Luke Kamish (New Richmond). Joseph Jeanquart (132 lbs) can still wrestle his way into a medal after winning his consolation round match.

Despite a close loss in the semifinals, Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol's Spencer Madsen's weekend at the WIAA Individual State Wrestling Tournament will continue on Saturday. Madsen dropped a close decision to Gunnar Johnson (Gale-Ettrick-Tremp./Mel.-Min.) at 157 pounds for only his second loss of the season in the semifinal. He will get to wrestle for third place on Saturday. Tiani LeMieux's weekend ended soon than she would have liked as she suffered a second defeat by pin on Friday morning to eliminate her from the tournament.

Kewaunee's Mitchell Boeder remains in line for a medal after two days of the WIAA Individual State Wrestling Tournament in Madison. After earning pins in his first two matches, Boeder received one from Grant Mathews (Riverdale) to send him to the third-place match on Saturday.  Arianna Niemojuski narrowly missed a second chance at advancing, losing to Aubrey Hilton (Eau Claire North-Girls) by sudden victory.
