Track round-up: Kewaunee girls win Purple Power Meet

Three area track teams made the most of their opportunity to compete on Thursday.

 

It was a successful trip to Marinette for the Kewaunee track teams as both teams finished in the top two overall. The Storm girls held off Green Bay West for the title by a score of 157-141. Hannah Miller (400m, 800m), Kaylyn Martin (3200m), Chyanne Robinson (discus), and the 4x400m relay captured wins while several others finished in the top three. The Storm boys finished just shy of overtaking their hosts for their own championship, losing to Marinette 157-139. Mitchell Boederthrew a season best to win the shot put while the 4x800m relay also brought home a win.

 

The winning was so good for Ben Grota, Cruz Calvillo, and Frankie Nellis, they had to do it twice at Thursday's Last in/First Out hosted by Green Bay Preble. Grota (800m, 1600m), Calvillo (shot put, discus), and Nellis (long jump, triple jump) took home multiple victories for the Eagles. Braeden VanRemortel(pole vault) and Lauden Berg (high jump) also posted win for the boys while Elise Jackson (300m hurdles) and the 4x200m relay finished on top of the podium for the girls.

 

The Luxemburg-Casco track team posted several podium finishes at Thursday's Last In/First Out Meet hosted by Green Bay Preble. For the boys, Mason Trimburger(300m hurdles) and Cameron Dorner (long jump) posted season bests to win their respective events. Kyan Lynts narrowly missed winning two events, finishing as the runner-up in the 800m and 1600m. with season best times. On the girls side, McKenna Rank (400m), Claire Duchateau (1600m and 3200m), Emily Tassoul (800m), and the 4x400m relay finished at the top of the leaderboard in their events.

 

On Friday, Gibraltar and Sturgeon Bay will join Green Bay N.E.W. Lutheran, Howards Grove, Menasha, Omro, Pulaski, and Wrightstown for a meet at Denmark. The first events begin at 4 p.m.
