Algoma High School is proud to announce that two of its standout student-athletes have officially committed to continuing their academic and athletic careers at the collegiate level. In a celebratory signing day ceremony held at 2:30 PM on April 30 in the cafeteria of Algoma Middle/High School, Carson Leist and Sierra Slaby signed National Letters of Intent, marking a major milestone in both their athletic journeys and academic futures.
Carson Leist, a senior Pitcher/3rd Baseman for the Algoma Wolves has committed to Concordia University Wisconsin to play Baseball. Some of his Team Achievements include Packerland Conference & Regional Champions in 2024. Also, individual achievements include Packerland Conference Honorable Mention (9th) and Second Team All Conference (10th & 11th). Carson has been a driving force behind the team's success over the past four years.
Sierra Slaby, also a senior and a standout Point Guard/Guard has signed with Aurora University Illinois for Women's Basketball. Some of her accolades include her Team Awards of Most Improved (9th) and Captain (10-12th) and MVP (12th). She also has earned Packerland Conference Honorable Mention (9-11th) and First Team All-Conference (12th). She has been a notable leader on and off the court the past four years.
"This is a tremendous achievement, not only for these student-athletes but for our entire school community," said Whitney Ebert-Maulick, the Athletic Director. "Their dedication, discipline, and perseverance set an example for all students. We're incredibly proud of them and excited to see what the future holds."
Family members, coaches, teammates, and school staff gathered to celebrate the momentous occasion with speeches, photos, and plenty of applause. The event highlighted not only athletic excellence but also the importance of academic commitment and character.
