Half Marathon Nearly Full

Door County’s largest sporting event is nearly full. The Door County Half Marathon has fewer than 100 spots left with less than two weeks until race day on Saturday, May 3 in Peninsula State Park.

The race is capped at 1,800 participants, with another 750 in the Nicolet Bay 5K, which is also nearing capacity. To register for this year’s event before it sells out, visit doorcountyhalfmarathon.com.

All runners get a race shirt, a free beer or beverage from One Barrel Brewing Co., course support and live music at the race concourse at Nicolet Bay. All Half Marathon runners get a beautiful finisher’s medal featuring the outline of Peninsula State Park.

The 17th edition of the race starts at 10 am on Shore Road, which will be closed to visitor traffic 8 am – 2 pm on race day. Access to the Nicolet Bay Boat Launch will also be closed until after the race.

To accommodate the 2,500 participants and at least 3,000 more friends, family and volunteers who will be in the park, race organizers offer free shuttles with pickups at a dozen sponsor lodging facilities and two park-and-ride locations. The shuttles minimize congestion in the park and northern Door County roadways and are a popular amenity for participants.

To register for either race visit doorcountyhalfmarathon.com.
