After beating Clintonville on the island 11-4 on Saturday, the Gibraltar/Washington Island baseball team followed it up with a 9-1 win over NEW Lutheran on Tuesday.
In Tuesday's victory, the Vikings scored five runs on the Blazers in the opening inning thanks to smart base running from Brady Kita and Fisher Grandy and RBI hits from Jaxin Lindgren and Hobbs Emerson. The Vikings added two more in the third inning when Emerson scored on a wild pitch and Kita singled in Liam Lindenberg. The two teams traded runs in the fourth inning, and the Vikings tacked on one more in the sixth inning. Owen Dannhausen led the way with three hits, while Kita and Lindenberg pitched in two hits apiece. Aaron Brey earned the win, but teamed up with Bennett Isaacson-Krueger and Lindenberg to allow one run (1 ER) on three hits while striking out 13.
In Saturday's win, the Vikings scored eight runs in the third inning to run away with the special home game on Washington Island. Jaxin Lindgren led the Vikings with three hits and three RBI while Aaron Brey went 2-3 with two RBI. Brey also earned the win in that game, allowing two runs (2 ER) on three hits in four innings.
