Several local athletes won their respective events at a pair of WIAA Track Regional Meets, with many more qualifying for this weekend's sectional meets.
The Luxemburg-Casco boys track team paced the local teams at the Division 2 Chilton Regional on Tuesday. The boys scored 137.5 points, beating second place Denmark and third place Southern Door. The Eagles came in second place on the girls side with 116.66, about nine points less than first place Chilton. Sturgeon Bay's Cady Carlson (400m), Kewaunee's Hannah Miller (triple jump, 800m, 1600m) and 4x400m relay, Luxemburg-Casco's Cameron Dorner (long jump), Kyan Lynts (1600m, 3200m), Mason Trimburger (100m hurdles, 300m hurdles), and McKenna Rank (high jump), and Southern Door's Elise Jackson (100m hurdles, 300m hurdles) Braeden VanRemortel (high jump), Grant Pieschek (pole vault) and Cruz Cavillo (shot put) won their respective events.
The Algoma boys track team was the top-performing team at Tuesday's Hilbert Regional ahead of this weekend's WIAA Sectional Meet. The Wolves boys scored 82 points to finish in third place. No other team finished higher than sixth place overall (Gibraltar girls). Sevastopol's Rashaune Johnson (100m), Gibraltar's Josie Martin (discus), and Algoma's Brennan Buckman (pole vault) won their respective events.
