Spartans soccer stung by Hornets

Two early goals given up was too much to come back from in a 3-1 Luxemburg-Casco loss to Green Bay Preble on the soccer pitch on Thursday.

The Hornets scored twice in the opening seven minutes on tallies from Frida Dax and Olivia Wiernasz. Aaliyah Wallace cut the lead in half with an unassisted goal in the 54th minute, but the Spartans gave it back in the 76th minute on a Lola Dax strike. Spartans goalkeepers were peppered with shots all night long with Teagan Gunderson accumulating eight saves while Ashley Fameree garnered 11 saves.

In other soccer action, Seymour got a goal in both halves to defeat Sturgeon Bay 2-0 on Thursday night. Next up for the Clippers is Pius High School from Milwaukee on Friday night.
