The Algoma softball team can get one step close to Madison on Tuesday with a win over Mishicot on the road Tuesday afternoon.
The Wolves went through conference rival Sevastopol 4-1 to earn their regional championship. The Wolves scored all of their runs in the fourth inning, starting with a Brooke Mattson double that drove in Jadyn Nellis and Madison Schneider. They doubled their lead a few batters later when Macie Zimmerman drove in a run on a groundout and Nora Krause singled in another. Zimmerman took a no-hitter into the seventh inning before Addison Schauske homered against her positional counterpart to give the Pioneers a glimmer of hope. Zimmerman did not allow that hope to fester, recording a strikeout and a flyout to win the game. She ended up with seven strikeouts from the circle. Schneider had two hits while Mattson, Krause, and Nellis registered the other ones. The Wolves have split their last eight games heading into the matchup.
The Indians enter the game 23-3 on the season, winning their last six. They have only one run since their last loss on May 10th, outscoring them 61-1. They no-hit St. Mary Springs in a 1-0 win last Thursday to clinch their regional title.
Gametime is set for 3 p.m.
