Storm slams Valders in Regional semi-final on 104.1 WRLU

The Kewaunee Storm blew past the Valders Vikings 11-2 in WIAA regional baseball on Tuesday afternoon.

 

Kewaunee's offense hammered out 14 hits while Storm starting pitcher Brett Paulsen struck out 13 Viking batters while only allowing only two runs in picking up the win.

 

The Storm struck early with three runs in the first inning on an RBI single by Brady Pribek, a sacrifice fly by Diesel Bosdeck and an RBI single by Alec Carlson.  

 

Kewanee added a run in the second inning before Valders cut the lead to 4-2 on a two-run homer by Austin Fischer in the top of the third inning.  

 

The Storm batted around in the fourth inning for the second time to take a commanding 8-2 lead.  

 

Paulsen was replaced by Waylon Delain on the mound in the fifth to control his pitch count, but returned after a walk and hit-by-pitch by Delain had two Vikings on base with no one out.  Paulsen retired the next three batters to end the inning and the Storm never looked back.

 

Paulsen and Ethan Palpham scored three runs each, and Delain went 2/3 with a double and two RBIs to lead the Storm offense.

 

Paulsen allowed only four hits and two walks while picking off a runner to end the game

in the seventh inning.

 

 

 

The Storm will now host  the winner of New Holstein and Brillion game that will be played Wednesday due to the weather.  

 

Thursday's regional final from Kewaunee High School will be at 4:30 p.m. with the pregame on 104.1 WRLU and streamed on the New Radio Sports Network at 4:15 p.m.
