Former Packer Dillon honored by Assembly

He may not be suiting up for the Green and Gold this fall, but the love for former Packers running back AJ Dillon continues to shine.

Nominated by State Rep. Joel Kitchens, Dillon received the Hometown Hero award from the Wisconsin Legislature earlier this week.

“Around the NFL, AJ Dillon is known as ‘Quadzilla,’ but in Door County, we call him ‘The Mayor,’” Kitchens said, “The Mayor of Door County doesn’t just promote our area, he makes a huge difference in our communities.”

Dillon was not honored just for his on-field success, but what he accomplished off the field. He became an ambassador for Door County, receiving the key and honorary mayoral status from Destination Door County. Dillon and his wife Gabrielle launched the Dillon Family Foundation last July, targeting food insecurity and to support youth. Their “Carry for a Cause” initiative delivered 1,400 backpacks filled with food for children and families in need throughout Door County and Green Bay.

“I am honored to nominate AJ Dillon as a Hometown Hero,” Kitchens said, “At a time when so many of the people our kids idolize end up letting them down, AJ is a person every parent would be happy to have their kids emulate.”

Dillon will suit up for the Philadelphia Eagles this fall.
