The number one team in the state in Division 3 took one on the chin last night. The Algoma girls basketball team never got things going offensively in a 41-35 loss to Green Bay Preble.
The Wolves pride themselves on having the most challenging small school schedule in the state. Last night a sub .500 team held the Wolves to a combined 13 points in the second and third quarters.
Kennedy Blahnik led all scorers with 16 points. Baleigh Delorit and Anna Dier added seven points each but little scoring assistance was offered from anyone else.
The loss will likely drop Algoma out of the top spot in the state rankings for the first time all season. The new WisSports.net Coaches Poll will be released early next week.
