The list of 2,000 yard rushing seasons in the NFL includes just six names. Adrian Peterson will look to join that list against the Packers Sunday. Peterson enters the regular-season finale with 1,898 yards, needing just 102 yards to become just the seventh player to eclipse 2,000 rushing yards in a single season.
For Peterson, that is not the number he is chasing. Instead the Vikings back is aiming for 208 yards Sunday to break Eric Dickerson's single-season rushing record of 2,105 yards, set in 1984. Peterson rushed for 210 yards on 21 carries in the Vikings' first game against the Packers on December 2 at Lambeau Field.
Not a single Packers defender wants to be the team that allowed Peterson to break the record against them. Green Bay needs a win this weekend to lock down home field advantage in the divisional round of the playoffs and a first round bye.
