David Noel Swingen of Sturgeon Bay died unexpectedly on July 20, 2022, at the age of 74. David was born June 2, 1948, in Stoughton, WI, to Dorothy Swingen (née Slinde) and Clarence Swingen. On December 7, 1979, he married Kelly Swingen (née Bluemle). In 1984, he and Kelly settled in Sturgeon Bay to be closer to family and to live in a small community where they happily raised their two sons, Joshua and Zachary. 
 
David worked as Production Manager at Sunshine House Inc. for 30 years. He was instrumental in creating the Production Department, procuring diverse employment from numerous area businesses and was known as a “wizard” in tailoring incoming work for employees. David absolutely loved working with individuals with special needs and disabilities and was beloved by the people he served.
Following his retirement he worked part-time at Door County Coop.
 
He was a past president of the Sturgeon Bay Lions Club and an active member for 25 years. David received the Melvin Jones Fellowship award, the highest form of recognition presented to those who embody humanitarian ideas consistent with the nature and purpose of Lionism. He also served for several years as president of the Door County Manufacturers Association. Always willing to lend a helping hand, he frequently volunteered to deliver meals for the Sturgeon Bay Masonic Lodge’s annual Steamboat Dinner. He thoroughly enjoyed the camaraderie he found in sports, particularly the many years he spent in an early morning basketball league. That passion was rivaled only by his love for golf. He belonged to several leagues and participated in many tournaments over the years. Along with his service, interests, and achievements, many will remember David chiefly for his sense of humor, which could light up any room he found himself in.

David is survived by his wife of 42 years, Kelly; his son, Zac; children from a previous marriage, Steve Swingen (daughter, Stephanie, and her mother, Cindy Swingen) and Nikki Swingen-Rindy (daughter, Sami) and their extended families; his sister, Gail McIntosh of Madison; brother, Greg (Karen) Swingen of Fort Atkinson; nephew, Brian (Kelly) Cook of Madison; sister-in-law, Josephine Guenzel of Sturgeon Bay and Florida (daughter, Renata Maniaci); along with many cousins and numerous friends.
David was preceded in death by his beloved son, Josh; parents; sister, Anita Cook; nephew, Dan Bain.

Audrey D. Milbach, 60 years, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2022 suddenly after transferring to Door County Medical Center following a short illness, diagnosed with cancer in February of this year.

     She was born October 15, 1961, in Milwaukee, daughter of the late Robert B. and Roberta I. (Hackl) McKenna. Audrey married James R. Milbach on December 12, 1977 in Appleton. He preceded her in death March 31, 2016. On December 27, 2020, she married Robert A. Murray in Sturgeon Bay.

     Audrey enjoyed spending time with her family, walks at Potawatomi State Park, traveling, and sitting around a fire pit enjoying summer evenings. She spent the last ten years as the beloved face of Kim’s Boutique, the lovely store where her creativity, talent, and enjoyment of beautiful things enhanced the lives of many.

     Surviving family includes her husband, Robert; two children, Aprille (Joel) Schutte of Rossford, Ohio and Luke (Hildy) Milbach of Algoma; seven grandchildren; three stepchildren; sister, Deb of Forestville; and brother, Pat of California.

     Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Jim Milbach; and brother, Donald McKenna.

     Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, July 30, 2022 at Huehns Funeral Home with Pastor Joel Schutte officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11:30 a.m.

Janice G. Mason, 84 years old of Ellison Bay, WI, died Thursday, July 21, 2022, at Aurora Bay Care in Green Bay after suffering a stroke and a Traumatic Brain Injury.

     She was born January 24, 1938 in Eden, NC. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Sally (Hall) Gauldin. Janice graduated from Draper High School where she met her future husband, the late Thomas Ray Mason. On November 22, 1956, Janice married Thomas R. Mason in Draper, NC. She & Ray both worked for Sears Roebuck in N.C. Ray was transferred with Sears to New York, NY and they lived in Princeton, NJ where Janice worked at RCA. Then Ray was transferred to Chicago with Sears. They lived in Crystal Lake, Illinois. Thomas preceded her in death December 14, 2021.

     Wherever they lived, Janice was involved in the church. She taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and participated in Women’s Bible Studies.  She also was an avid member of the Crystal Lake Garden Club in IL.

     Jan & Ray started the International Group in Sister Bay, WI which they led through 2009. The group consisted of foreign students that came to Door County to work during the summers. Jan & Ray organized events, trips, and meals for the students to give them a connection to the local church, as they were in unfamiliar territory and to show them the love of Christ. They students were provided with Bibles written in their native language to help them better understand the Good News of the Gospel.

     Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; and four siblings, Eva Lillian Johnson, Hazel Lena Edwards, Beatrice Anne Winn, and Virginia Christine Salmons.

     Survivors include her daughter, Jami (Scott) Strickfaden of McHenry, IL; and sister, Cleatis Irene Shope of Eden, NC. Also, four grandchildren, Benjamin (Phyllis) Strickfaden of Wausau, WI, Daniel Strickfaden of Elgin, IL, Caroline Strickfaden of Blue Springs, MO, and Kaitlyn Strickfaden of Moscow, Idaho; and one great-granddaughter, Victoria Strickfaden.

     A celebration of Janice’s life will be held Saturday, August 6, 2022 at the First Baptist Church of Sister Bay. Visitation at 1:00 p.m. and Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. Mark Billington officiating. Service broadcast may be available on Facebook or YouTube as internet and Wi-Fi allow.

Arline Elsie (Schwartz) Jorns 95, of Sturgeon Bay found eternal peace on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at Anna’s Healthcare.

     She was born June 2, 1927, in Sevastopol to Henry A. and Elsie I. (Schultz) Schwartz. Arline married Edgar O. Jorns on June 22, 1946 at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Valmy, WI. They enjoyed 47 happy years together before Edgar passed away in 1993.

     Arline worked several years at the Amity Leather Factory and later years at the family automobile dealerships, Jorns, Inc.

     Her true love was caring for her family and entertaining friends. She enjoyed a good game of golf (she had two holes-in-one – Peninsula Park & McCauslin Brook) often beating family and friends. Arline also enjoyed bowling, playing cards, tending her beautiful flower and vegetable gardens, and going for a nice brisk walk.

     Arline was a dedicated member of St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church serving on the Altar Guild committee for many years.

     Arline is survived by her daughter, Sharon A. Haines; two grandchildren, Scott R. Haines (Rebecca) and Holly J. Tlachac (Paul); and her great-grandchildren, Braeden Haines, Alyssa Perry (Kevin), Taylor, Sydney, and Nicole Tlachac. She is also survived by two great-great-grandchildren, Trent and Aubrey Perry; sister-in-law, Pat Schwartz; and nieces and nephews.

     She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edgar; parents-in-law, Herman and Lydia Jorns; son-in-law, Richard Haines; and her siblings, Edwin Schwartz, and Sylvia Zahn.

     Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m., July 26, 2022 at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church with Pastor Joel Sauer officiating. Burial will be at Bayside Cemetery where Arline will be laid to rest next to her husband, Edgar.

     Visitation will be at the church from 10:00 a.m to the time of service at 11:30 a.m.

Loraine Margaret Brink, 96, of Sister Bay, Wisconsin, formerly of Kaukauna, Racine, and Ephraim, died Monday, July 11, 2022 at Good Samaritan Society - Scandia Village in Sister Bay with family at her side.

She was born February 21, 1926, at home on the family dairy farm near Kaukauna, Wisconsin, the sixth of seven children to Henry L. and Elizabeth M. (Jaeckels) Schmidt. Sad to see her sister Lucille start school, Loraine began first grade at age 4½ years along with her. She attended St. Francis School in Hollandtown through 10th grade, graduating from Kaukauna High School at the age of 16. Within a year she was teaching grades 1-8 at Jackson School near Sherwood, having completed one year plus one of three required summer sessions at Outagamie Rural Normal School, a curriculum that addressed the need for rural teachers during WWII. Loraine went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in education in 1946 at Oshkosh Teacher’s College (now University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh). There in her last semester she met Don Brink, a returning Navy veteran who told her on their third date that he was going to marry her. (She responded, “You’re nuts.”) After her graduation, she and Don parted ways, Loraine to teach first grade at Waterman School in Beloit, Don to continue his studies. About a year later, she and Don met again, leading to marriage on December 27, 1948 at St. Francis Church.

Loraine’s first years of marriage were punctuated by moves within Southeast Wisconsin for Don’s grocery management jobs and the birth of Steve and Jane. Don’s decision to embark on a life insurance career brought them to Racine, where they lived for 35 years and grew to a family of nine. She extended herself beyond the home by teaching CCD classes at St. John Nepomuk School and volunteering with school and scout activities. Couples and ladies bridge clubs offered welcomed nights out, as well as the source of lifelong friends.

When her youngest son Don started kindergarten, Loraine enrolled in a pottery class at Wustum Art Museum. With an artistic eye and nimble fingers, within three years she was teaching the class and participating in art fairs. After Don retired and they moved to Ephraim, she took advantage of the wide variety of classes that were available, including raku, Oriental brush stroke painting, bronze casting, and sculpture. Her interests later shifted to quilting and poetry, and she was an active member of the Trillium Quilt Guild, Unabridged Poets Group, and Wallace Group. Loraine is responsible for the aroma of fresh bread in many Door County homes because she taught bread making for the community classes at The Clearing each January for more than 10 years, her specialty being cinnamon buns. Others may remember her as their CCD teacher at St. Rosalia Catholic Church (now part of Stella Maris Parish), where she was a member.

Loraine loved her family and family gatherings, and she fostered in her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren a love of traveling, baking, creating, and sharing fruits of the hand. She was a welcoming hostess and always looked the part. For many years, she hosted Geetha and Tom Chitta, founders of Foundation for Children in Need, while visiting Stella Maris Parish. Her hostess hat was evident at Scandia Village, where she never failed to introduce visiting family to other residents and staff or noticed if a resident needed something. Loraine also loved to sing, being a part of the Door County Chamber Singers for many years and more recently the Village Singers Choir at Scandia Village.

She was preceded in death by her husband Don in 2017; parents and stepmother Mary (Rossmeier) Schmidt; daughter Jane E. Kuhnwald; infant brother Andrew; brothers and sisters-in-law Clarence (Jeanne), Arthur (Marian), and Leonard (Lori) Schmidt; sisters and brother-in-law Rose Mary (Hilard) Brantmeier and Lucille Spencer; sister-in-law Judy Day; brother-in-law William D. Brink; and step siblings/spouses Gerald (Evelyn) Schmidt, Ralph Schmidt, and Anne Marie (Francis) Kempen.

Loraine is survived by her sons Steve (Patty), Stuart (Ronda), and Don (Sharon) Brink; daughters Carla Brink (Paul Ranelli), Bobbie (Dan) Guerra, and Linda (Ray) Armas; son-in-law John (Jo Anne) Davis; grandchildren Maggy (Ron) Hribar, Emily (Dan) Pfeiffer, Joanna (Tracy) Davis Lanum, Rhea Davis, Theodora Ranelli, Luciana Ranelli, Federica Ranelli, Nick Onsgard, Andy Onsgard, Dana Marcek, Tony (Kristy) Brink, Megan (Thomas) Chadwick, Ryan Brink, Samuel Brink, and Jacob Brink; and great grandchildren Joseph and Jenna Hribar, Alex and Kate Pfeiffer, Reece and Chase Lanum, Tyler and Alanna Marcek, and Thomas Chadwick II. She is also survived by sister-in-law Grace Schmidt, brothers-in-law Dan Spencer and Phil Day, nephews Jeff Noonan-Day and Scott Day, and numerous Schmidt nieces and nephews.

Her family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff of Scandia Village for the loving care provided to both Don and Loraine over the past 10 years.

She will be laid to rest beside her husband Don in St. Rosalia Cemetery in Sister Bay.

Pastor Philip Thomas Peterson, 84, went home to be with the Lord on July 14th, 2022, surrounded by his family and staff at the Agrace Hospice Center in Fitchburg, WI.  He was born on December 18th, 1937, in Rockford, Illinois to John and Ingeborg (Bergsland) Peterson.  Philip graduated from Rockford High School and received his Degree of Divinity from Augsburg Lutheran Seminary in Minneapolis, MN. On September 2, 1961, Philip married Vivian Angeline Gibbins in Minneapolis, MN. He served as pastor for several churches throughout the Midwest during his career as a Lutheran minister including Tanum-Forest Lutheran Church in Sturgeon Bay, WI. After more than 52 years of dedicated ministry, Philip retired in December 2014 and lived the past several years in Madison, WI.  Philip was a member at Hainesville Lutheran Church.

Philip is survived by his two daughters, Tamara (Paul) Cook, Sheboygan; Pamela Peterson, Madison; three grandchildren, Nathaniel (Hannah) Cook, Ellen (Julio) Herrera, and Noelle Cook; three very special great grandchildren Tristan, Mariana & Joanna; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Vivian; his parents; sister, Joyce Orr; and brother Jim Peterson.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 19th, 2022, at Tanum-Forest Lutheran Church on County Hwy 00 Sturgeon Bay, WI with Rev. Philip “Grandpa Pete” “Uncle Phil” “Pastor Phil” was a blessing to many, and he will be missed dearly. He loved his family, the ministry, the many congregations he worked with and the wonderful opportunities being a pastor gave him over the many years to serve the Lord both in scripture and in song.  His engaging personality, great sense of humor, incredible singing voice, and warm smile touched many. Philip was truly a special gift to all who knew him, especially his family.

Diane M. (Malzahn) Vandermuse, 66 years, formerly of Green Bay, died July 12, 2022 at her home in Marshfield, WI.

She was born April 21, 1956 in Sturgeon Bay the daughter of Harvey and Evonne (Sandell) Malzahn. Diane graduated from Gibraltar High School in 1974 and continued her education at U.W. Oshkosh where she received her undergraduate degree.

Diane worked in food production most of her career with the longest time spent at Green Bay Cheese Company in quality control lab testing where she made many friends. She also worked at Melron Corporation, Great Lakes Cheese, and Badger State Fruit Processing.

She was a very good artist who enjoyed painting and drawing, creating crafts along with her sister, Denise Harmann, and watching movies. Diane had a passion for natural path health and wellness for living.

Survivors include her two sisters, Denise Harmann of Algoma, Debbra MacDonald of Valmy; stepsister, Kristine (Scott) Schuetze of Green Bay; stepmother, Barbara Malzahn of Fish Creek; friend, Michael Knutson of Marshfield; three nephews, Eric (Rachel) Harmann, Craig (Lyndsay) Harmann and Alec Schuetze; three great-nephews and one great-niece, McCoy Harmann, Keaton Harmann, Harvey Harmann, Sloane Harmann.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Harvey and Evonne Malzahn; brothers-in-law, William “Billy” MacDonald, and Gary Harmann.

Diane was a highly spiritual person who deeply cared about people. She was a deep listener and love unconditionally. She was an angel here on earth.

Our loving daughter and sister, Anna Lisa Helena Jilburg, passed away July 4, 2022, at the Roots Residential Adult Family Home in Racine, Wisconsin after a courageous battle with brain cancer.

Anna Lisa was born in Chicago, Illinois on October 23, 1973, at Swedish Covenant Hospital to Joanna and Roy Jilburg.  Our family moved to Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin in July 1979, at which time Anna Lisa was enrolled at the Southern Door School District.  After high school, Anna Lisa attended both the Sturgeon Bay and Green Bay NWTC.  She is preceded in death by her mother, Joanna Gjertina Jilburg, and both sets of grandparents.  Leaving as survivors the immediate family, including her father Roy, brother Erik, uncle Lloyd Jilburg and numerous cousins.

Anna Lisa was a beautiful, loving daughter and a kind and generous human being who shared her love with everyone.  She was baptized and confirmed at Hainesville Lutheran Church and had a strong Christian faith.  We wish to thank all those who cared for her at the Roots Residential Adult Family Home. Also, Door County Family Programs for their efforts regarding Anna Lisa’s three mental illnesses.

A memorial service is scheduled for 3:00 pm on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at the Forbes Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay.  Friends may call at the funeral home from 1:00 pm until the time of service.  The service will be live streamed on the Forbes Funeral Home Facebook page.

Ervin Raphael Jadin, 97, of Brussels, passed away on July 11, 2022.  He was born September 29, 1924, in Brussels to Moses and Esther (LeRoy) Jadin.  Erv was a 1941 graduate of Brussels High School and maintained many lifetime friendships with his fellow graduates.

After attending business college in Green Bay, he married Dorraine Jeanquart in Namur on June 2, 1948.  Ervin was a hardworking and successful farmer for his entire life.  In his retirement, he and his wife enjoyed wintering in Florida with close friends.

Ervin was a lifetime member of St. Francis Church in Brussels where he sang in the choir for over 50 years and served on the church council.  He was also a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters.  He served his community as long-time clerk for the Town of Brussels and was also a past member of the Door County Board of Supervisors.   Erv enjoyed celebrating his Belgian Heritage, especially with some prune pie.

He is survived by a daughter, Sue Robertson of Brussels; grandsons, Paul Robertson of Brussels and Jonathan Robertson of Milwaukee; sister-in-law, Florence DeDecker of Sturgeon Bay; 2 brothers-in-law, Dennis (Sharon) Jeanquart of Brillion and Al Moore Jr. of Sturgeon Bay; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, son, Brian, son-in-law, Kurt Robertson; 2 brothers, Jim and Ted; brother-in-law, Elmer DeDecker; and sister-in-law, Bernie Moore.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Friday, July 15, 2022, at St. Francis and St. Mary Parish in Brussels.  Entombment will be in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.  Friends may call at the church on Friday from 9:30 am until the time of service.   Forbes Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Rita Emily Columb, 93, passed away on July 4, 2022, at Cardinal Ridge Residential Care, Sturgeon Bay.  She was born on September 5, 1928, to Goldie and Rosamond Nellis and grew up on a large family farm.  She was one of seven children.  She worked hard as a child and was an excellent student.  Rita married Erwin Columb on February 28, 1946, and they had 8 children.  Widowed at the age of 46, she devoted her life to supporting and caring for her family.  Throughout her parenting years, and thereafter as well, Rita faced the trials and tribulation of life with great fortitude, strength, and courage.

In her retirement years, Rita was an avid reader, frequently finishing off 1-2 books a week.  Rita had an excellent memory of past events and a natural talent for record keeping.  She managed her financial affairs and filed her own taxes right up to the end.  She collected hundreds of recipes over the years and made countless wonderful meals for family gatherings.

Many thanks to the amazing and kindhearted staff at Cardinal Ridge, together with the wonderful hospice staff, for so tenderly caring for Rita’s spiritual, emotional, and physical needs through the final stretch of her life.  Special thanks to Jessica Winograd, “adopted” granddaughter and Amy Hayes, special neighbor friend, for their many kindnesses.  Rita’s journey on this earth has ended.  May she rest in peace knowing that her legacy lives on within the “village” of offspring she so lovingly brought into this world.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Erwin; son, Donald; granddaughter, Taylor; two sons-in-law, Duke Larson, and Gary Serwe; sister, Geraldine Shebasta; brothers, Francis and Patrick Nellis; sisters-in-law, Mildred and Janet Nellis; brothers-in-law, Frank Stoller and Jack Conrad.

Verna Hallet, 88, Green Bay, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 

2, 2022, at Caraton Commons Assisted Living surrounded by her family. 

She was born March 26, 1934, to Martin and Laura (Vincent) Theys. 

Verna attended Luxemburg High School. She married Glen Hallet on 

January 31, 1951, at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Tonet. 

Verna worked hard all her life as a dairy farmer, office worker at 

Plumbers Woodwork Company, Schreiber Foods, Pay and Save and the 

State of Alaska in Anchorage, AK. She enjoyed working and made several 

wonderful friends throughout her career. 

Throughout her life, Verna enjoyed genealogy, traveling, photography, painting scenic pictures, quilting, beading, sewing, knitting, crocheting, cooking, baking and most importantly spending time with family and friends. 

She is survived by her children Wayne (Mary) Hallet, Luxemburg, Steve (Patti) Hallet, Green Bay, Mark (Michele Kolasinski) Hallet, NC, Christine (Timothy) Cain, New Franken, Randy (Julie) Hallet, Casco, Sue Kinjerski, Casco, Sharon (Shelley) Dallmann, ID; hersisters Rosie (Ronnie) Ropson, Luxemburg, Rita Moens, Luxemburg, Lucy Greening, Luxemburg, Cathy (Jackie) Jacobs, New Franken; her brother in-laws Bill (Pat) Hallet, FL and Jim (Dottie) Hallet, Green Bay; and many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, godchildren and other relatives. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Hallet, he preceded her in death on August 18, 1969; an infant daughter, Mary, son John (Jack); in-laws Veronica and Alvin Jonet; her parents and in-laws Willam Sr. and Viola Hallet; niece Judy Jonet and nephew Craig Jacobs. 

Visitation will be held at St. Killian's Catholic Church, New Franken, on Saturday, July 9, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Carlo Villaluz (Fr. Lukee) officiating. Burial will follow at St. Odile Cemetery in Thiry Daems. Kinnard Funeral & Cremation Services – Casco assisted the family. Lori Janel Lardinois, 57, of Cincinnati, Ohio, formerly of Door County, passed away suddenly on June 29, 2022.  She was born October 31, 1964, in Sturgeon Bay to Norman and Eileen (Miller) Lardinois. 

Lori graduated from Southern Door High School in 1983.  She worked in purchasing for a number of businesses during her life.  She enjoyed flower gardening and golfing.  She especially loved spending time with her family, friends and her cats Stella and Bella.

Lori had been living in Cincinnati since 2013, but was in the process of moving to Green Bay this month.  Her heart was always in Wisconsin, and she was very excited about moving back home to be near family.

Survivors include her partner Brian Bergmann; a brother Kevin (Irene) Lardinois; three sisters, Kay (Ted) Brauer, Pam (Mark) Bretl, and Jane (Don) Mallien;  sister-in-law Peggy Lardinois; nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Dale and Dean.

Kevin Vogel, 42 years, of Thailand, formerly of Sturgeon Bay, passed away April 8, 2022 in Thailand, unexpectedly.

     He was born October 4, 1979, the son of Joy Vogel in Sturgeon Bay. He graduated from Sevastopol High School. Kevin had a love of cooking, skateboarding, snowboarding, traveling, teaching and martial arts. This would eventually lead him to Thailand where he taught conversational English to the Thailand people. He completed his Master of Art in Education from European Global School in April 2021.

     Kevin found his true love there and on March 17, 2022 he was married to Pitchaporn Choochuea “Peach”.

     Our family will miss him so very much. He leaves behind his wife, Pitchaporn Choochuea; mother, Joy Vogel of Sturgeon Bay; siblings, Natalie Kosechata, Jessica Henderson and Brandon Isaacsen; nieces and nephews, Makayla Shackelford, Timothy John Shackelford, Addison Henderson, Emari Kosechata-Walker and many cousins, aunts and uncles.

     A service of remembrance will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, July 10, 2022 at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay.  Family and friends are encouraged to come and share stories and remembrances. The family will great friends and family Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 3:00 p.m.

Merle K. Peot, 93, Luxemburg, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 29, 2022. She was born on March 1, 1929, in Scarboro to the late Adolph C. & Emerence M. (Younk) Novak. On June 1, 1949, she married Kenneth J. Peot at Holy Trinity Church in Casco. Together they worked on the family farm with Merle also working for Schreiber Cheese for twenty six years. Kenneth preceded her in death on February 18, 1992. Merle was active member of St. Mary Church, helping with the script program, the Christian Mother Society and was very proud to be a Eucharistic Minister for many years.

Survivors include her children, Glenn Peot, Lee Peot (Esther Gillis), Patty (Mike) Raisleger, Greg (Sandy) Peot; ten grandchildren that she loved very much include, Amanda (Tom) Shefchik, Brian (Cindy) Peot, Andrew (Kari) Peot, Alex (Nikki) Raisleger, Jackie (Dale) Peters, Ashley (Andy) Cornette, Jessica (Eric) Jahnke, Kaitlyn (Kris) Dubois, Kenny Peot, & Kim Peot; fourteen great grandchildren include, Julia, Jacob, Jonah, Evelyn, Stanley, Cecelia, Stella, Aubrey, Emery, Liam, Miles, Memphis, Joey and Zeke;  three sisters, Jean Kollross, Bonnie (Jerry) Marcelle, Nancy (Dave) Mueller; one sister-in-law, Joan Lardo; special friend, Connie Peot; many nieces and nephews.

Merle is preceded in death by her husband, who she has missed for thirty plus years, Kenneth J. Peot, her son, Kenneth “Butch” Peot; her grandson, Scott Peot; her daughter-in-law Mary Peot; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joseph & Hattie Peot; one sister, Shirley & (Roy) Rueckl; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Donald (Helen) Peot, Betty (Edward “Eddie”) Ripp, Donald “Doc” Kollross and Robert “Bob” Lardo.

Friends may call 3:30 to 6:30 pm on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at St. Mary Church, Luxemburg.  Closing Vigil Service with Rev. Daniel Schuster at 6:30 pm on Thursday.  Visitation will continue between 9:00 and 10:45 am on Friday, July 8, 2022, at St. Mary Church in Luxemburg.  Funeral at 11:00 am on Friday at the church with Rev. Mark Mleziva officiating and Deacon Robert Miller assisting.  Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Luxemburg.
